PS/2 External Keyboard
On this page are schematics and designs to connect a PS/2 (or XT-style) computer keyboard directly to your TI-83 Plus Silver Edition calculator. The diagram below is the connection from the keyboard to the calculator.

For the 5+ volts input you will either need a voltage regulator (find one at RadioShack) or resistors. Below is a nifty box-like thing you can easily make, with the wiring connections mostly enclosed.

Click here to download the *beta* driver for the TI-83 Plus Silver Edition only. To use run Asm(prgmKEYBOARD) at the home screen. You then type (on the 83 Plus' built-in keypad) the name of the file to which to store typed data to. This file will be created as an AppVar. Press enter when done (if you reach 8 characters it will automatically go to the next screen). Now the screen will clear and you can type on the external keyboard. Backspace will work, however you can't backspace off the screen for now. Shift key will work, not perfectly yet. When you're done typing, press the escape key to return to the TI-OS. Your work will be saved. So far you must have a bunch of RAM free to run the program, otherwise it'll crash...don't type more characters than you have (free RAM bytes - 150). In the future there will be a computer program to transfer typed work to your computer easily.
